Starring- Nagarjuna,Bramhanandam,Anushka,Priyamani
Directed by- Veeru POtla(Bindaas fame)
Ragada is a simple mass masala entertainer, basically a revenge story, aimed at mass audience, especially Nagarjuna's fans. Nagarjuna enters a fight, just for fun, with a simple intro. Nag joins a local don and helps him get stronger in the city mafia, and all he asks for is money. And why Nag does all this
forms the rest of the story. Its a pale story which needed a tighter screen-play.
Director crumbled under the pressure of high-lighting Nag and failed to involve other characters in the story and focussed solely on Nag. Music by Thaman is passable. Ragada Ragada, Astalakshmi, and the item song by Charmme are OK. Cameraman did a good job. Movie has a heavy dose of action sequences, some crisp editing would have made the movie bearable.
Dialogues could have been better.
Nag tries to get closer the mass audience with his class appeal and unnatural Raayalaseema slang, looks out of sorts though. Anushka is clearly out of shape and needs to shed some excess flab. Priyamani does a decent job as a traditional Brahmin girl in the first half. Bramhanandam's comedy comes as a breathe of fresh air. He is the saving grace of the movie. His awesome chemistry with the lead actors, coupled with his excellent coming timing does the trick. Dharmavarapu Subramanyam and Master Bharat did a good job. The con-men crew are OK.
Overall, audience would get the taste of a typical Ragada chat with salt-masala imbalance. Cute songs in 2nd half and some crisp editing would make the movie average.
